Meet Allan: The Story Behind Headshots in Scottsdale

Hi, I'm Allan Petersen — and if you're reading this, there's a good chance you need a Headshot that doesn't look like it was taken in a hurry between meetings and to make things worse taken with an iPhone.

That's exactly the problem I set out to solve.

I'm originally from Denmark, which means I grew up with a pretty simple, no-nonsense approach to quality: do the work right, don't overcomplicate it, and let the results speak for itself. That philosophy followed me across the Atlantic and straight into photography, where I've now spent over ten years behind the camera helping people put their best face forward — literally.

For the last three years, I've owned Headshots in Scottsdale out of a dedicated studio right here in Scottsdale, Arizona — conveniently located across the street from NetJets at the Scottsdale airport. If you know the area, you know exactly where that is. If you don't, don't worry it's easy to find, easy to park at, and easy to get in and out of without losing half your day.

Here's what makes my approach different. A lot of Headshot sessions leave you with a handful of "okay" shots and a bill that doesn't match the value. I built my business around the opposite idea: competitive pricing, real expertise, and a session that actually gives you options. Every client receives around 30 fully edited images — not one safe shot, not a folder of near-duplicates, but a genuine range of expressions, angles, and looks so you can pick the one that's really you.

That's the other thing ten years in this business that teaches you: everybody looks different in front of a camera than they think they do. My job isn't just to press a button. It's to make you comfortable, catch you when you're not overthinking it, and edit the results so they look polished without looking fake.
